A high taste and high comfort interpretation of rustic and traditional flannels, the Alps & Meters Sterling Flannel is designed for jet-setting women, creating fashionable alpine sportswear ensembles during mountain get-aways.

Nostalgic and reminiscent of the timeless flannels that populated the slopes of Big Cottonwood Canyon during the 1960s, this posh oversized garment reimagines the star smart collared shirts and blouses present in many of our favorite ski photographs from the mid 20th century.

With a classic set of shoulder yokes and “dusty” plaid color expression, the Sterling Flannel delivers mountain lifestyle comfort and cache during fireside or off-piste wear occasions.

The Story

Adopted among Western pioneers in the United States, flannel, once the chosen fabric of the working class for its unique combination of durability and warmth permeated American culture while expressing a vibrant spirit of independence that lives on today.

During the early 20th century amidst the advent of skiing as a novel means of mountain recreation, workwear’s traditional performance garments transitioned seamlessly to use on piste and the category of sportswear was born. Flannel shirting’s place with the Western U.S. was sealed in towns such as Park City, Utah during alpine sports’ resort boom of the 1960s, where the woolen fabric and its classic patterns infiltrated life on-piste and off.

With reference to the nostalgic skiing ensembles of the mid-20th century Western U.S., Alps & Meters introduces the Sterling Flannel. Woven in a traditional plaid, this flannel is a re-imagining of the smart collared shirts and blouses present in many of our favorite ski photographs from the mid 20th century. With an oversized protective presentation, the Sterling Flannel delivers mountain lifestyle comfort and cache for all seasons in the alpine.

Forged Performance
